The most easy to apply offshore jobs are positions in catering staff. catering is something that do not need offshore experience or physically demanding working. As a rule catering crew members are not full-time workers. drilling company, for example Saudi Aramco doesn't directly hire catering staff but hire catering company subcontractor.

Working on offshore oil rigs has always been hard, extreme weather conditions, remaining on the high seas for long months, long working shifts etc. So employer aims to improve working conditions for its workers and support the workers' health. Here's why nutrition on oil rig is given special attention.

Offshore catering staff consists of:

Camp Boss - the highest position among offshore caterers. Camp Boss manages all catering department on oil rig. Responsible for good nutrition, cleanliness on kitchen, recreation zone and laundry.
Lead Cook or Chef - the main person in the kitchen, performs kitchen maintenance and food preparations.
Cook assistant - prepares dishes under supervision of Lead Cook.
Steward - This is quite simple non-skilled entry level job. Offshore steward cleans up the accommodations, helps out in the kitchen cleaning, and performs the laundry. Candidate doesn't need any offshore or specific experience to work as steward.
